Prague - 2004
Day 3 - May 12
Progress in this city is not at a standstill. Years of infrastructure decadence are rapidly being erased with reconstruction everywhere to give this beautiful cosmopolitan city a much needed facelift. Its old buildings are magnificent, and today's trip through the countryside to the pulp and paper factory offered a view of the past and a transformation to the present.

The Franschach Paper Factory has transitioned from a state run company to a very successful and efficient world class operation. It has reinvented itself by hiring a world class staff and training its workforce to efficiently mass produce paper product for export through the European Union (EU). To achieve success Franschach set these goals:

1) Financial prosperity
2) Safe and healthy environment
3) Good corporate citizen

This factory is a statement of an emerging company competing in a global economy.

The 125 year old Bohemia Glass factory offered an insight to old methods and artisans that convert silica sand, lead, potassium, and soda into precious crystal artworks. With a 2-month to market, Bohemia Glassworks satisfies its customers with precise quality. It is obvious to us that the Czech Republic is well prepared to enter the EU rich with traditions and resources.
