Past students suggest that prospective Professional
MBA students start early on their application process. Admission
to the program will be determined by The Professional MBA
Admissions Committee. The committee evaluates the applicant’s
readiness to benefit from as well as contribute to the program.
Priority Deadline
The priority deadline each year for consideration for the
upcoming class is April 10. To be considered, each applicant must
be accepted into The Graduate School, complete The Professional
MBA application, and take the Graduate Management Admissions
test (GMAT), unless a waiver has been granted.
Selection Process
In selecting program participants, the admissions committee
considers the following criteria:
• Professional Achievement
– Includes recommendations and a record of significant accomplishments
along with an increasing scope of responsibility.
• Academic Achievement – Includes
a strong undergraduate grade point average, an acceptable score
on the GMAT and acceptance by the UT Graduate School.
• Commitment to Learning – Includes
a commitment to approximately 20 hours of work per week, class
attendance on weekends as well as during the kick-off and capstone
weeks over a 16-month period of time, and support by the applicant’s
employer.
• Fit with Program Objectives – Includes
an organizational setting appropriate for carrying out three applied
projects within and on behalf of the organization and the ability
to bring valuable insights to the class with maturity, problem
solving ability, and breadth of business experience.
